11.6x8.3 in ~ Painting, Acrylic
This is an original abstract artwork, in acrylic by Jan O'Sullivan. The colours in this artwork have taken inspiration from those I've observed in posters and postcards from the 1920's. - 40's. The shapes and patterns have been inspired by lacy and silky materials, and by the art deco style. This is the eight painting in the series, featuring the combination of the colours orange and purple.
The aim of my Vintage Collection is to transport the viewer from the everyday modern world to a bygone time when intense colour and indulgent texture were the essence of luxury, modernity and wealth.
In practical terms, I've chosen to keep these artworks small for two reasons. Firstly for myself, I have an awful lot of artworks and so storage is always an issue - smaller artworks take up less room. And secondly, for framing purposes. I see these artworks going to homes where the owner will enjoy the process of choosing just the right frame for the artwork - bright, gilded, fussy or modern - I think the intensity of these artworks will be further enhanced by a frame. Framing is costly, but a smaller artwork requires less frame.. so hopefully the cost will be proportional to your enjoyment of this piece.
